Chem homework - please help

Postby splodge » Sun Feb 05, 2006 5:04 pm

The question is:
Write an equation for the reaction of ethane with bromine.

Then the following questions are all questions to do with this equation. I think i might be ok with the rest of the questions but i cant do them if i dont know the equation.

Can someone please help?

Thank you. :)

luckily for you i did chemistry a level. it was a long time ago but i think this is right:

C2H6 + Br2 = C2H4Br2 + H2

Sorry Splodge,
Got 11% in my last exam. I hated chemistry. Good luck anyway. :D

Sorry to be a pain, but I think it might be wrong.....

It's C2H6 + Br2 = CH2H5Br + HBr

The end products are bromoethane and hydrogen bromide

Just looked at it again, (sorry if i sound like an idiot i just really suck at chemistry), but isnt there supposed to be more c's in the product 'cuz otherwise they dont balance on both sides ??
