Phone stolen.. no money

Postby rufio89 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 9:00 am

I want to cry.

I had my phone stolen Saturday night, and called up Sunday morning to have it blocked.
Went to the shop last night to buy some lunch for today and my card was declined, checked my bank and it said my account was empty (I should have about £200 in there) I was REALLY upset and stressed, but I eventually decided it must be a bank error

Checked my emails this morning and the C**T who stole my iphone has gone onto the app store and bought £200 worth of apps.

So I now have no phone, no money, I cant put any money in my account while this person still has my iphone.

I want to cry. I feel sick. This is horrible :(

Aw how absolutely sh***y for you, your having the worst luck at the moment! How could they do that?Is it linked up to your bank some way?would they not need some of your details? How was it stolen, did you put it down or did someone actually take it from you?I dont suppose there is anyway you can prove its fraud and get the money back?My brothers x box account was hacked and they got the card details and spent some money but he is getting it back.(Sorry iv just realised my post is like 20 questions!) I just cant believe it!Im so gutted for you.

Yeah my itunes account is linked to my bank :(
I'm trying to get it blocked but I just cant find out how!

I really hope so, I am terrified, I dont know what to do, I have bills to pay and I dont know how I'm gonna pay them.

They've taken literally every penny in my bank.

I NEED it back, I cant afford not to get it.

Im trying really hard not to curl up in a ball and cry but I just feel horrible, I have a pounding headache.

I cant imagine how gutted you must feel, you need a break!!

Im sure the fraud squad can do something, thats who dealt with my brothers x box thing.Fingers crossed you will get it back, but you will just have to phone the places you have bills to pay and tell them what has happened and it just isnt possible to pay at the moment. If it comes to it you can always show them a bank statement.

Sorry to hear about this :( What a nightmare!

Would just like to add that I'm confident you will be able to get your money back - I have known a few people (boyfriend/friends) that have had money taken from their bank account fraudulently (have I just made up a word? lol) and the bank has sorted it out and given them their money back.

Surely when you blocked your account they stopped applications being downloaded? Or did they download before you blocked it? Also get on to your banks fraud department so they can "monitor" your banking activity.

Basically o2 have said that when they "block" the handset, they stop the person being able to send or recieve phonecalls and text messages, and stop them being able to use the built-in internet. It doesnt stop them being able to use apps, or Wifi.

I've tried to cancel my itunes account, but they wont let me because I have an outstanding payment on it (that the thief has made).

The police said there's not a lot they can do.

I'm waiting to hear back from Apple.

It's horrible, I have literally no money, and no access to any money :(

Is there no one that can lend you some money to tide you over? Your Mum perhaps?

I cant get to my Mums because I dont have any money, and they cant put any money into my bank account because I've had it frozen. I'm gonna have to get someone to drive to my house to lend me cash.

I'm really, really upset. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry, I so badly want to go home.

I have not a penny to my name, and they've taken the only thing I own of any value :(

Ask them to freeze your i tunes account so no more tunes can be purchased or it will go on forever

your mum can do a money order and you take your ID and pick it up in your local postoffice, it's what a lot of travellers do when they get stuck for money

bl**dy bas**rds
ring citizens advice you must be able to do soemthing about this
that is a ridiculous design if someone can commit so many frauds on you
the bank must be able to trace where the money is going unless it is going into a swiss bank account

ruth i got a (quite vague) reply from my o2 manager friend, he said unfortunately not a lot o2 can do as the thief would have needed a password to download apps and if there's a security issue with your itunes account it's apple not o2 - as o2 are only the phone service provider and provide the calls and internet, not itunes, the same as if it was ur laptop that was stolen. it would have been different if it was calls they spent the money on. however u should be covered by ur debit/credit card, same thing as if someone copies ur card in a machine u should get that money back. i'd keep on at apple, if u couldn't cancel ur account until sun morning, they should have better security measures in place. sorry i couldn't be of more help! i also have a friend who's a manager in an apple store but he hasn't answered me yet.
what i don't understand is how they are still able to use your iphone - when o2 block a phone they block the imei which means u can't even switch the phone on. did they block your imei?
not if you were the last dandy on earth

Yeh, I agree you should be covered by your debit/credit card. Surely the principle is the same as someone somehow getting hold of your bank details and buying random items?! (not an expert, this is just what I think).

Have you gone to the police about this? Considering this involves your bank account too I think they should be able to get involved..

Speak to your bank and sort it out with them too.
