Oh, dear...

Postby peecee » Tue Nov 10, 2009 7:12 pm

I just wanted to explain why I haven't been around much for a while, but I'm not looking for sympathy. :)

An old friend of mine has been ill for some time, taking up my time and energy, obviously very willingly given. But he suddenly died yesterday, and I took it in my stride. My job now is to look after the family who didn't see him or talk to him as often as I did, but are really grieving. I say it's "my job", because several members of my family have died in the last two years, including my dad, so it's second nature to me now! And I can handle it without struggling. I can also help PPers who are not used to death, but are suffering losses now.

But get your heads round this; one of the goldfish I brought up from an egg 18 months ago, died today - and I'm in bits! I understand what's happening, not sure what it's called - displacement something or other? (There are PPers who know what it's called.) I'm just off to release Sparrow (thanks, Bel Bel for the name! :) ) into the brook near me, taking a box of hankies with me! (half a box - just used half a box while I've been typing this  )

If anybody actually reads this before I delete it, I would like to say that some PPers post their stuff and wonder if people will think they are daft or weird. Maybe they are - but maybe we all are, and what's wrong with that? :)

Hope you're okay. Sounds like you're having a rough ride lately. Its really noble that you're looking after others during their difficult time but maybe its time to remember that you also have to lookafter yourself.

Sorry your fish died :( I hope that you feel okay. I guess that its all kind of got on top of you lately and when that happens the smallest thing can set you off.

I agree with the Captain, you need to look after yourself too.

You know I can totally sympathise right now Pee and I agree it's often the smaller things that set you off

You are so selfless and fantastic to have helped in recent months and I suppose part of it is that you aren't needed in the same way anymore. I think sometimes that you feel a bit lost for a while as you have been so used to caring and then suddenly it's all over.

And if it helps I am super weird, different, special, individual and unique (and don't mind admitting it 8-[ )
Why would you want to be one of the boring people anyway :D

Taking Sparrow to the brook is really nice too. So much more dignified than the toilet.

You know we are always here to help you for a change

Aaaaah - I said I wasn't looking for sympathy, but it's so nice to get it anyway! :D Thanks a lot, everyone.

The funeral's a week on Monday, so we've got all that to keep us busy. After that, Snail has given me one day's grace to post about ice cream in as many random threads as I like, before she deletes them all and bans me.

I keep looking round at the fish tank while I'm typing, and they're all sitting at the side of the tank, staring at me! Either that or staring at the carpet, thinking "for GOODNESS sake, Pee, WHEN will you put the blimmin' hoover round this place!"

Oh, and Bel Bel - you ARE all those things, and many, many more! :bounce:

Lots of love

Peecee,
I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough time lately. I hope you have filled your freezer with plenty of ice cream.
Just remember we are always here for you. We are only a message away.
