Race for Life

Postby Pigglet » Thu Feb 19, 2009 12:58 pm

Is anybody thinking of doing the race for life this year?

Me and some friends are going to do it for the first time, I'm looking forward to it!

A friend of mine is just recovering from cervical cancer (hopefully [-o< ), Her boyfriend wants to do something also but they don't allow men on it do they? Why is that?

It just makes me glad that, whatever else might be going on, at least I have my health and should make the most of it!

Good for you! I was going to do the Relay for Life (not as challenging  ) last year, but it was on only a few days before I left the country, so decided not to do it.

Everyone seems to be doing runs at the moment! I have one friend doing the London Marathon, and another doing a Manchester one. Just seen on Facebook that an old school friend is doing The Race for Life too!

=D> to you all!

Race for life is for Womens cancers hence it's all pink and stuff. I did it years and years ago. There is now an equivallent mens run/walk as well. I'm not doing it because it's right during my holidays! lol Sponsored one of my friends, another friend is doing it I think.
A hug is a great gift, one size fits all.

I ran 6 miles for sports relief last year, and I wanted to do race for life, but now no-one will sponsor me for running a mile, even if it is for charity. Booooo....

So have any of you run in the race for life afterall?

My mum did and we're all very proud of her for it.

Hope you enjoyed it :) I did the City of London one and it was a great atmosphere.

There is a male equivalent but I can't think of what the name is and I don't think it's by Cancer Research UK either. The reason it's women is because it originally started out to raise awareness of breast cancer but now it's any cancer. There were a few girls crying at the end of my race, it made me really sad to see young girls with "I Race For Life In Memory Of Mum" on their back :(

My friend is doing it on the 26th of July, I think it's amazing how much people are doing to help with Cancer Research. I won't be running but I'll be sponsoring my friend :)
