Abbreviations

Postby dipsydoodlenoodle » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:29 pm

Does anyone use any dodgy abbreviations at work or in real life...

I'm looking through a report and I've got two dodgy ones...

POOH - Pull out of hole (???)

BHA - bottom hole assembly (LOL)

we also have one called TUTU - it's a pipe term which none of the men can remember.

haha funny topic.
I'll have to have a look at one of my ATPL books because theres about 4 pages of abbreviations in one of them so some of them are bound to be funny. Ironically I should know them all. :o

Why not just say own then? Gah, people are silly. Maybe someone made a typo and it caught on.

It's the whole 'l33t' language, it's everywhere in games! My boyfriend and a lot of my friends use it plus it is thrown around a lot in the majority of games I play, lol. If you have ever looked on 'icanhascheezburger.com' that is the language they use as well.

I think that with a lot of the gaming terms and stuff...like "fravourite" - why not just scrap the extra R and type it as it should be *angry*
My bf writes the gaming terms a lot and I always have to go away and research what they mean if you get words like that whoopsie there is a site called...urbandictionary.com which has a lot of slang words and terms on and it tells you what they mean and sometimes they'll have different meanings and people vote as to the most common one (top of the list). When I first discovered urban dictionary I must have spent hours on it looking at all the different words.
