Favorite Animal and Why

Postby Bel Bel » Thu Apr 30, 2009 3:16 pm

I was inspired to start this thread becasue of the thread that started touching on zoos

I absolutely love giraffes. I think they are very graceful and can kill a lion with one kick - who said lions were the kings of the jungle
Giraffes are very peaceful and only attack to defend themselves
They have beautiful eyelashes too
I sponser a giraffe family through the born free society
I would love to go on a safari one day just to see them

My favourite animal is the tiger. I've always loved it and I can't say why; I guess I'm just bewildered at the pretty ness of it. I also like giraffes too Bel Bel; I'd say they are my second favourite wild animal....I also like monkeys and how they cling on for cuddles (plus I call my bf a monkey); I guess I LOVE all animals

However for proper reasons I'd guess a dog would be my favourite domestic animal because I'm far more likely to own a dog than a tiger or a giraffe.

My bf's favourite is the penguin :)

my hubby loves tigers, he says they are beautiful, fierce, strong and survivors against all the odds

penguins really smell but they look cute

Domesticated animals - i'd have to say my aquatic turtle (if that really counts as truly domesticated). I would love a tortoise too, so easy to keep and no hair to clear up

My bf took me to Monkey World cos i love them so much, we adopted one of them.

I was thinking about this last night and I also love elephants. To be honest I love all animals.

When I said monkeys I probably should have said all primates lol.

Not me. I like snails :D

Not so much garden ones because they are a bit slimy, but aquatic ones. There are some gorgeous ones out there.

Mind you, giraffes are nice too . . . :-k but I'll never get to keep a pet giraffe in my bedroom like a snail . . . or if I did it wouldn't be very happy . . . so snails it is.

I held a giant snail last year at the zoo...it was quite funny - it was just sitting there looking around, it extended it's eye/feeler (I call them eyes) towards my bf and kept extending it and extending it until it bumped back into the side of my hand and quickly retracted - it was cute.

It's because big wild animals have the appeal that domestic animals don't...you can own a dog or a cat or a fish so it's not the same appeal as for e.g. you can't really keep an elephant in your house. Hence you can't have them and hence I think the appeal.

So do you keep snails sanil?
I keep considering them for my tropical tank, there are some nice ones out there as you say
We had a crab once but it escaped the tank so i won't have one of them again
I think it would look good taking a giraffe or an elephant for a walk even if it didn't fit in your house
