Nice to hear from you brfc. I hope you're okay. You seemed optimistic about the changes when we last spoke so I hope everything is running smoothly.

Hi all,

I know I probably don't post as much as I used to anyway these days, but I just thought I'd let you know I am going to Amsterdam on Monday (if the ash clears and we can actually fly!), so I won't be around for a little while!

Take care everyone :)

How long are you going for, Ragdoll?
I hope the ash clears by then but its a very uncertain situation.

It was supposed to be Mon-Fri, but it's not looking that likely that we'll make it anymore :(

Are you flying out of Newcastle? I heard that there was the possibility that newcastle may open. Mind you, it also depends on how things are at Schiphol.

no, not Newcastle, just for privacy reasons I don't want to say where we're flying from :)

not really Skarlet :( it's a university trip, not a holiday, so even tho I'm disappointed, I'm not as gutted as I would be if it was just a normal holiday!

As I am sure you've all gathered, I didn't make it to Amsterdam, so you haven't got rid of me for a week!!

Any chance of it being re-scheduled, do you think?

Nope, unfortunately not. The trip is still going ahead without us - some students had already arranged to get the ferry to Amsterdam, so it wouldn't be fair on them to cancel it as they can still make it and obviously as ferrys haven't been affected by the volcano, they can't claim any insurance money if they didn't go. Rubbish! Was looking forward to seeing Amsterdam and learning about their planning system.

Nevermind, I guess it could be worse... I could be stuck in a foreign country, spending a fortune for a hotel!

Its ashame you werent going by ferry, but naturally you'd book to go by air as its cheap and quick.
Hopefully your uni will be able to organise another trip to help with your studies.

Just to let you all know (as I know you'll miss me, haha) that I am going on a holiday for a week, so I won't be posting for a little while. I'm actually going up to Northumberland where the crazy gunman is, bit scary!!!
