One for the computer experts...

Postby bellajennie » Sat May 23, 2009 12:46 pm

Bit of a random question but....
As I type I am aware of how vile and disgusting my laptop is! There's goodness knows what stuck between these keys and the screen is a mess!
I was thinking of using compressed air?
I've seen those mini keyboard vacs but they just look a bit gimicky??!?
Any suggestions?

As dictated by my boyfriend :D - Compressed air is normally for removing dust from internal parts of a computer but if the keys on your laptop are too narrow to fit a cotton-bud or the special goo you can get for keyboards (http://www.firebox.com/product/2243/Cyber-Clean) I would suggest the compressed air. You can buy wipes that are designed for computer screens but do not use kitchen roll as the little pieces of wood can scratch the screen and also most LCD screens are not supposed to have water placed on them so make sure you get the right kind of wipes.

Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks guys!!
That goo stuff looks ace. I had thought about compressed air just pushing the dirt around so I am well happy you suggested that other stuff. I've ordered some now. Who knows, my hi fi and mobile might also get a little clean too!
MM's boyfriend must be a very handy one to have around!!

Thanks!!

It looks quite fun to play with actually. Let us know if it works.

Oooh it came today, and it worked really well getting the dust off my computer screen. The keys are also in a better state, but I think I'll have to have another go because its quite hard to get it out from between them. Probably works better for desktops and not laptops. Fun stuff tho!
