Your rights to children

Postby dipsydoodlenoodle » Fri Jul 24, 2009 9:57 am

Something that has been wondering around my little mind lately.

If is was possible for a man to be pregnant and have a baby as a woman does would:

girls give up the chance and leave it to their partner? and men would you jump at the chance to be pregnant?

I know it's weird but 3 blokes at work are all having babies this year and it seems such a cop out that they can come to work to escape it all.

well there was that sex change guy that had a baby

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7488894.stm

I think it would be very individual, I would gladly let the man have the baby, not because of pain etc but I would want them to have the responsibility like the woman generally has. Most woman feel they can't walk away but often men do leave their kids with the mum and go off and have their own life, leaving mum to bring them up

Not all men of course (ilovechristmas being a great example of a dad who takes his responsibilities seriously) so before i get torn to shreds i am basing this on the general theme of what happens

I know, I think this is what actually started me thinking about it. The sex change man has had 2 kids now hasn't he.

i feel very sorry for the kids when they start school
It's quite a selfish thing to do, no matter how much he/she wanted a baby surely he must have thought of the consequences to the kids once they go to school. They are bound to suffer for the choices that the dad has made

I know. They did say they were going to be told about what happened and that the woman is their mam and the sex change man is actually dad and not their mam.

I did always wonder why it wasn't his wife that was inseminated instead of him. That would have been much simpler all round and would have had the same basic outcome for him - he would have become a father. The way he did it was more selfish, but I guess it's hard to really know his situation.

EDIT: this thread should really be in Chit Chat, Dips. Perhaps ask one of the mods to move it for you.

I think his wife couldn't be inseminated because she's lost her ovaries/womb due to a hysterectomy a few years previously due to cancer or something like that.

If that was the case,I wouldnt want him to have our babies instead of me.I loved being pregnant and had 2 great labours and also it is one of the only remaining things that just us women can do I would rather keep it that way!
