I plan on getting 3 of these http://www.jounipaakkinen.fi/kuvat/tuli1.jpg; they are Chinese Fire Belly Newts....I want clever or funny names....Names that when people ask, they roll their eyes at the stupidity...So far our ideas are Issac (NEWTon), Robin (red breast)....you know something related to it....

There's the traditional one - Tiny. "Why's he called Tiny?" "Because he's my newt" (minute - see?).

Pets at Home at the Metro Centre have them Kerrie; However Pets at Home in Cramlington do not. I saw lots in what used to be Shaws garden centre in Cramlington if you know where it is (I think it's called Azul garden centre or something now).

I like Tiny hahahaha (very clever - I'd like names like this). My other suggestion is Alice (Cooper as he sung poison) and the newts are poisonous if eaten (not that I plan on eating them of course).

Well my fish all have reasonable names...my last 4 were called...Molly, Polly, Dolly and Wander. :). My budgies are called Ziggy and Ozzy (my first bidgies were called Jamie (my mam liked it) then Jessie (as in Jessie James) - we had Jamie and Jessie at the same time; then we got Cassie (Butch Cassidy and the sundance kid) and then I ran out of cowboy names that were good and went for Ziggy and Ozzy....I was dying to call one of the budgies Richard....(Dicky) bird hahahaha. I was imaginging phoning the vets and saying "he's called Dicky...bird"...

I love the fire belly newts. Are these partial aquatic ones (i.e live in water but need a basking area). They sell them in our aquarium shop sometimes. I wanted one but we have fish that they will eat  So i got my turtle instead (who would now eat my fish too if he was in the same tank) :D
Sorry I am rubbish with clever names so I can't help with that.
When we had two turtles we called them Bert and Ernie as in seasame street but one kept bullying the other so we took him back and now we call the remaining turtle "turts" - highly imaginative eh :-?

My goldfish would probably eat the newts. I bought them their own little tank :).

I think they are partial aquatic ones, I've got rocks to make a little basking area, I'm going to get them some live plants on my way home. The knowlegable man in the pet shop which didn't sell the newts said they won't come out of the water...I've been reading; some say most won't like a basking area however you will get the odd newt which prefers land to water. I'd rather have land "just in case" it wanted to :).

My mam said she'd have a think on names too - ny parents are on holiday - I might not have mentioned it to my dad yet, so he can't help although he's good with names :)

I only managed to get one newt at the weekend; the shop had 3 and the stupid woman in-front of me bought two, she didn't know what they were/have her tank set up/what to feed them OR anything GRRR.

When the lad caught her two newts they went fairly easily; when he caught mine he was active and kept swimming away :). When he was in the bag he kept climbing up the sides of it; he's been on an exploration of his tank; he tried to stand on top of the water and fell over (lol). I decided to call him Issac since it's a boy - the next one will be called Tiny. He's been all around his tank (although not ont he land yet) - it says when you first get a newt they probably won't enter the water and probably wont eat for a few days; he had a tiny bit to eat yesterday and was in the water; he seems to like sitting in his plants; the plants are green and pink and he is grey and orange/red and suprisingly he blends in very well.
