Driving again after a long period of, well, not driving.

Postby LME79 » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:38 pm

Hi everyone,

I passed my test a couple of years ago but since moving to the city I haven't needed to have a car, seeing as the transport in London is convenient. However since my boyfriend has moved in, the weekly shop is now a lot bigger and it's times like then, visiting my parents, and just being able to escape the city on a Sunday or something, where I wish I had a car. I can afford one, plus my boyfriend also drives so we'd split the cost but as I haven't driven since moving to the city early 2010 I'm a bit nervous about taking to the roads again, particularly the A roads (even though I used to find them easier than residential :S) Will I have forgotten how to drive? My decision making isn't going to be top notch so am I going to be dangerous?

I'm probably panicking for nothing but any thoughts welcome.
I want to be..a tree..

Hey Lme,

Why not book some refresher lessons, to give you your confidence back?

Yes, as Skarlet said, book a lesson with an instructor just for a couple of hours - you'll probably be surprised how easily it comes back to you.

OR, drive around quiet roads for a few hours and get your confidence back up?
