Happy 2014 - New years resolutions?

Happy 2014 everyone! I hope the new year is going well for everyone so far.

So, does anyone have any new years resolutions?

Mine are:

1: Up my cooking game - I was a passable cook when I first moved out on my own, then I dated a chef for a bit and got much better, but it's been a few years now and I haven't improved anymore - since food is pretty much my favourite thing in the world, makes sense that I should be good at making it :)

2: Read more (doing well on this one so far!)

3: Be more assertive, say what I want and don't try to play silly mind games with people (i.e. don't say something expecting a particular response and then get upset when they don't respond that way)

4: Get my Access course done and start uni!!

Hi Rufio,

I have a couple of resolutions too:

1. Get myself into some sort of shape. Last year I started the NHS couch to 5K running plan but abandoned it after a few weeks, so I've picked that back up again. For the moment it's hard work but I'm hoping enjoyment will overtake that once my fitness level improves. Even now it's great to get out into the fresh air. It's amazing how, even as a wheezing unfit lump, you still come home with a clearer head.

2. Improve my career skills. I already do what you might call a 'skilled profession' but there's always room for improvement so I've enrolled in a distance learning course.

It seems there's a theme here of more exercise and developing career skills. Mine are very similar - I want to double the amount of exercise I take from 30 minutes a day to 1 hour, and I want to develop my new business, which will take quite a lot of work.

I also want to start a new relationship, and travel somewhere abroad.

I also want to do more exercise. I need to think of something I can do (probably swimming) because I cant run or do yoga since I hurt my back and those were always the things I did :(

There might be an exercise class for bad backs near you? I know some standard exercise routines (like, say, Callanetics, which I still love even though it's old) have a specific routine for bad backs, e.g there's "Callanetics For Your Back", so you get the benefits and still protect your back.

I'll have a look, thanks! It's just tricky going to classes because I keep having to work late and it takes me a while to get home, swimming is a good one because I can go whenever I like.

Happy New Year!

I don't normally make resolutions, but as it happens this year I have. To quit fags, drink more water and write down my dreams.

Progress so far: I have only remembered one dream, but it was good enough to be glad I made the resolution. I need the toilet a lot. I have started smoking crystal meth. That last one isn't true, but I have been thinking about it more.

Good luck to us all!
