David Blaine

Postby spider girl » Fri Sep 05, 2003 6:46 pm

Me and my mates are going to go see David Blaine in the box tomorrow.
Coz I just love his work.
I was in NY on holiday when he stood up on that pole for 36 hours.
The atmosphere was great,I hope it is like that over here.

One more thing that confuses me is that people/media etc, thought David Blaine was alright/cool and that when he was doing his stuff In America.
But as soon as he comes over here they are calling him a fake etc. :?

I just wanted to know people opinion on him.

I really really really don't know what to think of him. I didn't watch much of his other suff. The thing I heard most about was the block of ice thing, and I'm still not sure what actually happened. I've seem him do his street magic thing though. I'm going to watch it tonight and I'll let you know in a few days!

He is the bloke that stood in ice for ages and stood up on the pole for 36 hours.

Spider Girl I do have to agree with you about people thinking he was cool when he was doing his stuff in America but as soon as he comes over here it is a different story.

P.S I love his work too.

The stret magic he did in America was amazing and the pole thing was quite good too. I think he has gone way over the top this time though, 44 days without eating isn't really promoting the right kind of message. I don't know but I don't think he'll last it. Then again who knows, he did spend a long time in a box of ice so I won't put anything past him. I do believe that he did do the stunts without cheating though.

Mmm am very sceptical of this David bloke. He is obviously as mad as they come to do these stunts but at the same time very clever.... and rich! He is quite strange - did you see the interview on GMTV a while ago he looked like he had taken something.
Doesn't really matter what the eye is seeing
cos i'm in love with the inner being

I think he is a nutter. It just doesn't set a good example at all. He's gorgeous but crazy. I just hope he can survive.....

Well, the fact that his job title is "illusionist" would suggest that these feats may be not be real. Or maybe they are. That's the thing about tricks, there's an element of "maybe it's real".

I agree, he has 'technically' cheated already and gone against the rules because he is allowed no human contact but there was a thing in the paper along with a picture of him holding a friend's hand while he was in the box. Hmmmm...... I detect an illusion taking place...

They are apparent miracles. What the eyes see and the ears hear the mind believes.

The fact that this person is known as a magician reduces the credibility of the apparent miracle being a true miracle.

I used to be in the Magic Circle, and I was interested in true magic as well as the illusion of it.
