How do you get an avatar?

Hi Yummy
Click on User Control Panel, top left of the screen.
Click on the Profile tab.
Click on Edit Avatar, in the left-hand menu.
On the screen will be an option to post a link to your own avatar, a picture hosted somewhere like Photobucket. Alternatively, click on Display Gallery, to get a gallery of ready-made images.
And here I want to say to all the PP-ers - why does no one use the funny avatars on offer in the gallery? I want to see you all with a League Of Gentlemen avatar*, no excuses!
*Except me of course.

When you say link, what does that mean? Is that a link to the website or one of those funny things down the side?

You see now, if I were more computer literate myself, I could post a mini screen shot here and show you, but I'm not
Anyway, when you've clicked "Edit Avatar", the Edit Avatar screen will show and you should see this text on the screen:
Link off-site:
Enter the URL of the location containing the avatar image you wish to link to.
next to an empty box. In the box you type the URL (web address) of a picture of yours that you have uploaded to one of the picture sites like Photobucket or Flickr, where you load pictures so that they're live on the web and you can show them to other people. If you don't know what I mean by that, then you won't have a picture on one of these sites. If so, you'll have to click on "Display Gallery" and choose a ready-made one from there.
Does that make sense?
