A few changes have been made to the moderating team of late, so here we've revamped our profiles to include new additions and dust the cobwebs off the existing ones!

Please note: there are a few mods who are yet to add their profiles

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
I originally joined back in May 2004, before the Dreaded PP Downtime of December04! I came here with a few problems, got a lot of fantastic advice and here I stayed!

What do you like most about PP?
The fact that people are offering advice for no personal gain; it's nice to see. I also like watching members progress with their problems, whether it be over weeks, months or even years. If I read back some of my original problems I think it's amazing how much I can see a change in myself.
Also, one thing that I think sets PP apart from other forums is that there's no regular-member elitism. A lot of other web communties don't even acknowledge the newbies, but here everyone is welcome to participate.

How did you choose your PP name?
It was the song I was listening to at the time of registering, and the lyrics suited my mood. Had I known I'd become more involved with PP, I would have probably chosen something more meaningful, but it’d seem a bit odd changing now.

Favourite thread on PP?
In terms of fun threads, probably “you know you’re spending too much time on PP when…” I tend to gravitate towards help-seeking threads involving people questioning their sexuality as I too have had my fair share of strife in that department!

Is there anything else we should know?
I’m a Scots girl in my mid twenties finishing a PhD.

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
Like a_a, I originally joined back in May 2004, before the December Crash (can't believe it was that long ago!). I never even knew forums like this existed; I had been going through a bit of a rough patch for quite some time, so one evening I got fairly drunk, and decided to look online for Marj Proops (who actually popped off donkey's years ago!). I found PP, worked out how to post my problem, and was really excited when people replied! I was so enchanted by the idea that people could get help from interested strangers online, help other people AND have a laugh, that I decided to stick around for a while.

What do you like most about PP?
I like the fact that even really shy people can join in; people who don't feel confident around "real" people can let their true selves out online. I've seen quite a few members blossom over the last couple of years, and gain loads of confidence. I also like it that when people come back with the same problem more than once, people don't say "look we've told you what to do, we're not telling you again!", they really do their best to help until a problem has been solved.

How did you choose your PP name?
Because I'd never been on a forum before, I had no idea I'd need a name. So I panicked and shoved in my initials. I STILL think I should have called myself "Princess Goldenhair" or "Irresistible Rich Girl". However, I've been told that I should change my name to "Oldboot" or "Daftbat"

Favourite thread on PP?
I usually go for the Physical or Mental Wellbeing threads first. Because I'm in my early 90s, I seem to have so much more experience to draw on than younger folk who don't want to talk to their parents about stuff - a lot of the problems just need a bit of elderly common sense...I really wish Problem Pages had been around when I was a teenager. But, as Moose and a_a love to point out, even if I'd had a pc in those days, electricity hadn't yet been invented...

Following that, I like the Mashed Potato thread.

Is there anything else we should know?
My company runs a nursing home in Wales, 130 miles away. I loathe the mindless, petty bureaucracy inflicted on us, and I could rant about it for days; but I love the old folk - I've had many slagging-off sessions with the old dears about how to keep men under your thumb! Can't wait until I'm REALLY old, then I'll be able to behave disgracefully, and get away with it. Maybe you didn't need to know that? :o

oh - and sometimes I eat ice cream...

And I always ramble on...!

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
I originally joined back in July 2004, when my (now ex) boyfriend wanted to go on holiday with his ex girlfriend. I was upset, found PP via Google, saw that I could help others with my experiences and the rest is history.

What do you like most about PP?
Like all_apologies, I like to see members progress from their problems. There are a few members we've had over the years that have had quite intense problems and when you look back in the space of six months or a year, it's really good to see them happier. I tend to read fairly old threads to see how the members are getting on. It's also very rewarding when you know you have contributed to helping a member get back on their feet.

How did you choose your PP name?
I actually do not know - I am not Spanish in any way, shape or form.

Favourite thread on PP?
Hard to say....I like the gigs/festivals one in chit-chat but in terms of 'problem' threads, I always find I can offer the most advice in the "Self" threads.

Is there anything else we should know?
Not a lot; I hit my late twenties this year, I work full time, I have a long term boyfriend and am looking forward to the rest of the year as it's set to be a good one!

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
As this is my mums site I always knew It was here but when it was first made I would have been about 10 or 11 and, being the stroppy teenager I used to be, I was too wrapped up in my own bubble. but when I grew up and decided to have a proper look at it I thought It was really nice and friendly, most other advice sites are full of scammers and people laughing at your problems so It's a nice change to have a site where everyone is friendly.

What do you like most about PP?
Well I think It's like walking in to a room where everybody welcomes you. the advice given is always really good and If your to shy to write your problem you can just browse other peoples problems and see that your not alone.

How did you choose your PP name?
It's the same as my ebay name, I think it was a song or something my dad used to call me.

Favourite thread on PP?
erm... I like the ones in children, and chit chat, I don't know I need to read more really.

Is there anything else we should know?
Im not far off being 20, Iv got 2 beautiful children and I have some daft blonde moments even though I'm not blonde :D

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
I built the site in 1999/2000 because it seemed like a good idea at the time; everyone seems to enjoy reading the problem pages in magazines, so it was originally built around that idea with resident 'Agony Aunt's and even a couple of 'Agony Uncles'. The site has gone through many changes since then but has remained in it's current form (e.g. a forum) because, after much experimentation, that's what works best.

What do you like most about PP?
The moderators who work hard to keep the site fun, friendly, clean and safe - completely voluntarily. I also love the members and the brilliant atmosphere that has developed. I really wish I could pay the moderators back for their commitment somehow - maybe if I ever win the lottery!

How did you choose your PP name?
It's my real name - quite boring really!

Favourite thread on PP?
I don't really have a favourite but I think the chit chat threads are extremely important for keeping the atmosphere light and fun, while at the same time allowing the serious stuff to go on in the background.

Is there anything else we should know?
I roped my daughter into helping with the site (Embop) - so I can't post any problems about my family! I have two grown up children and two grandchildren. I brought my children up as a single parent and am proud of all single parents everywhere! I've worked as a shelf stacker, cleaner, youth worker, mental health information worker, web designer and an administrator - so have quite a varied background! Most of my adult working life has been spent doing paid jobs in the voluntary sector - which I love :)

Ok so my turn!

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
I joined the site not far into my current relationship, as being a guy and not having the handbook to women, a lot completely baffled me. But being an engineer, I like to have all the facts and to fix things :D
Found PP via Google, as others have said, like the anonymity and of course the upbeat, cheery people that responded. Having a browse around I replied to a few others who were in a pickle…and I got kinda hooked!!

What do you like most about PP?
Whatever you’re going through, someone seems to have had a similar experience and they can give their take on it, and how they would approach it if they had to do it over. I think that is a great way of trying to figure things out, and of course, how to move forward.
I have also seen some breakups on this site, unfortunately, but these things happen. It’s also great to see the support group rally around the part of the couple that we supported, to offer further advice and friendship.

How did you choose your PP name?

Even though my career is in IT, I have always had an interest in meteorology, (the weather) and the fact that even with all we know, Mother Nature can still knock us on our ass!
And 78 is the year I was born! :D

Favourite thread on PP?
I don’t have a favourite, per se. But I spend my time mostly in the Girlfriends and Boyfriends section, as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of guys on here to give a mans opinion…and sometimes it does get a bit one sided! (man bashing!!!)

Is there anything else we should know?
I’m 31, I get married this Friday and though I’m a little scared I’m also very excited!
I was surprised to get the message from Jo for Mod, but I’m also very flattered!

I'm a fairly easy going type of guy, and can talk about pretty much anything

Why did you join PP, and what made you stay?
I joined PP back in 2007, when I was 34 and in the process of splitting up with my partner. I wanted to ask a frank question and realised there was no one in real life I could ask: I needed to get the advice of strangers. I had a look at other sites, but there were none as good as PP, mostly because PP was so well moderated.

Once I had created an account and asked my question I kept noticing people posting with the same sort of problems I had had when I was younger. I posted and tried to give them the advice I wish that someone had been around to give me. Once I started posting it snowballed, and here I am!

What do you like most about PP?
The fact that the people on here try above all to help, rather than to judge. PP is perhaps the only place in the world where I feel I could say anything – no matter how shocking – and get practical help and support rather than criticism. Of course, if they feel you are in the wrong, the PP-ers will tell you, but they won't beat you up about it and they will also tell you how to put it right.

How did you choose your PP name?
I wanted a noun – bed, chair, horse, car – as these words are simple for others to remember and type. I chose 'Snail' because it wasn't obviously masculine or feminine, plus I am rather into wildlife and I think snails are underrated in terms of cuteness. And I am partial to salad.

Favourite thread on PP?
It's really hard to say. Chit Chat threads always cheer me up, but I think the most worthwhile posts often occur in Mental Wellbeing.

Is there anything else we should know?
I chose my signature ages ago in tribute to Peecee, and as a spoof of LME79's, and neither of them have ever told me off about it :D
