Feel over-exposed.

I have always worried about letting people in too much as I don't want to get hurt, also I am quite shy so find it difficult to be open about my feelings.
I have a friend at work who is the opposite. She is very huggy and has no problems expressing how she feels about people, including me. She is very open and has said a few times that she and her young kids love me. I care about them loads as well and I am sure they know that but I thought that I would write *Love you all* in a thank you card just so they know for sure. Anyway, I felt exposed writing it and handing over the card and I haven't heard from them now in a while.

Did I go too over the top or am I over-thinking it?

What was the thank you card for?

My answer kind of depends on why you sent it in the first place.

It was for a Christmas present and a card that I got given from them.

In that case, no, I don't think you were being OTT in the slightest. You're definitely over-thinking this one.

I'm not one for being overly-affectionate either, but writing that you love a friend in a card isn't really a big deal. I am sure she's just been busy and that's why you haven't heard from them.

I agree that's perfectly fine

I agree you are over thinking this.

I often write "love from Dipsy" to my male friends (whom I don't love in that way and it doesn't mean anything; it's just a little affection because I do love them as friends).

well in the past few days, she has ignored my text and said she would bring something in for me but didn't. When I saw her in person today she seemed distant and uncomfortable around me as well as colder.
Looks like it's not in my head this time.

The thing is she could just be wrapped up in her own problems and it really isn't anything to do with you.
If she has a lot of other stuff going on then it may be why she forgot to bring something in.
She has kids and is probably busier than you can imagine.
This has happened before with this lady and everything turned out to be fine.
She has told you she and kids love you, that's more than just writing it in a card. I honestly think she isn't meaning to be like this as a spite to you.
Don't rush to any conclusions yet wait and see how she is next time you see her

My boyfriend's mum recently bought us a card for our engagement. My boyfriend told me a week or so later that she was upset cos i hadn't mentioned the card the next time i saw her. I completely forgot! The fact that she posted it made it worse cos if she had handed it to me, of course i would've thanked her. The next time i saw her, i was running late for work, so wasn't exactly the friendliest of people. I wouldn't worry too much :)
