Stress - What can I do?

Postby kitten » Fri Apr 04, 2003 3:59 pm

I went to the Doctor today as I have been getting severe chest pains and he has diagnosed stress, he says there is nothing he can do about it.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could make these pains go away? :(

Well recently i went to the Doc's too - aprently got stress!
there are many ways you can calm youself ,a few are : -

1. Wheat Bag
You can buy wheat bags from the shops,You put them in the micowave
for like 2 mins, they come out hot,you can put that on your stomach
Where your getting pains,Lie down on your bed with the lights off
Nothing distracting you, even play some calming music, keep yourself

2. Breathing
Everytime you feel things are getting to much,Just step aside from
you are doing and take deep breaths till you can feel yourself calming
Down,Then when you return to what you are doing,Try takin it as
easy as possible.

3. Have your own time
Make sure no matter what you do,You have YOUR time.Weather its
5 minz or a few hours,Do the things you love, and keep yourself doing
things that make you feel good.

Hope this helps,Basically just take each and everything as it comes.
Good Luck - P x

find an outlet

Postby primalsurfer » Tue May 20, 2003 6:14 pm

That was a pretty slack response from your doctor you might want to seek another opinion on that. If it's rising stomach acid from stress and worry it could lead to ulsers and gastric problems.

Prevention is better than cure. Most people over look that so try looking at what is stressing you out and try and reduce it if you can.

If you cant reduce how stressed you get then you need find an outlet. Everyone deals with stress in their own way so there's no hard and fast rule as to what will work you jsut need to try a few and see what works for you.

A recent survey showed the most popular way of destressing in the UK was watching tv, followed by drinking followed by smoking. Not the most healthy ways to deal with stress.

Myself I go to the gym and run atleast 3 miles 3 times a week that does the trick for me and has the added benefit of keeping me fit. Going for a surf is another great stress reliever.

Good luck de-stressing.
