Lower abdomen tenderness

Postby Josie » Sun Oct 25, 2009 9:48 pm

Hi all,

lately I have been experiencing cramps in my lower abdomen, left-hand-side, just above my caesarean scar. At first I thought it might be due to ovulation or something. Then the feeling changed; it's no longer a cramp, but a feeling of tenderness and soreness, especially if I push in with my fingers at the area. I also have this constant feeling of kind of bloatedness or fullness low down in my abdomen. And I don't know if it's relevant/related, but I also have been finding it kind of painful/tender lately when we have sex and it goes quite deep. Any ideas? This is my first month off the pill, I was on it for 3 months and came off it (we are not TTC, I just hate being on the pill). Oh and another thing, I also have slight breast tenderness. And I REALLY doubt I am pregnant. And anyway I never had tenderness like this when I was pregnant on the twins.
Thanks for any replies/thoughts. x

To be honest you need to ask the doctor - it could well be IBS or a grumbling appendix or even cystitis, but someone needs to examine your abdomen to really know.

Seeing a doctor is definately a good idea,

Pain in the left hand side during sex is a major symptom of IBS expecially coupled with bloatedness,
i doubt its a grumbling appendix as your appendix is on your right.

Thank you both very much I will be going to the doc tomorrow. Pain is not severe but it is constant. It is definitely bearable but it's constantly there and I can feel it most when I push in and it is very tender. I don't have pain on my left side during sex, it hurts INSIDE when he goes too deep. It feels sensitive. This makes me think it's something to do with my ovaries, like maybe an ovarian cyst. Anyway thank you both for your opinions, I will go to the doc tomorrow and let you know what she says, thanks very much! x

I went to the doctors because I was sometimes getting excruciating pain on my right hand side, where my ovary is, and the doctor did some tests and couldnt find anything, and he said that it's probably because one of my fallopian tubes is a bit too small, so when I ovulate on that side, it hurts a lot.

Hi all, thanks again for all your thoughts/replies! I went for a scan on Friday and it turned out I do have an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. Still waiting to hear from the doctor re: what happens now. It was good to dispel the mystery! But I'm a little nervous about it! Anyway, thanks again!

I'm glad that you at least know why it has been sore. Fingers crossed it gets fixed soon.

I have a pea sized (not PEE sized :o ) ovarian cyst. It played up for a few months when I was younger but then it just settled on it's own. They said they would rather not remove it unless it became a real problem. I have had it for years no and never had any further trouble
Hope you get it sorted one way of or the other anyway
