Postby ButterflyAway » Thu Nov 26, 2009 11:39 pm

Hi Guys.

Just writing a message to get some advice...

Ive been in and out of A&E for well, alot of the summer with severe chest pains which brings on anxiety/panic attacks where i cant breath etc, i keep getting told different things, anywho i was eventually told go to my doctor to refer me to specialist in hosp, when i went he said theres nothing tests can do...even though i told him ive been having troubles with my breathing since my car crash 3 years ago and it got worse when i came out of hospital last october from a serious operation and my lungs collapsed... and i got the feeling he felt it was in my head, although clearly isnt as if it was in my head i wouldnt be waking up at 3am til all morning in a&e.
Anywho that was friday, and mon/tues i noticed blood in my nipple that wont come out, and i recently get severe nipple shooting pains.. its so painful...
Please help me what to do im getting really down, i know somethings wrong but no one will help me!!

Thanks

Well, firstly, try not to worry too much. The chances are the blood and pain in your nipple is just a local infection - this is quite common.

If the doctors think these might be mental problems rather than physical, they may be right, but that doesn't make them any less important; they need sorting either way. Make another appointment tomorrow with a different GP to check out your nipple, then keep going back until you feel this problem is sorted.

I dont see how it could be mental, severe chest pains? how bad they are there is no way its in my head! Everyones seen it , its not good... the lady at hospital even said to see speciailsit, this is what my old doc did, he blamed something on stress for 6 yrs and then i collapsed n needed an operation for something he kept saying was stress, i believe this doctor found it easier to blame it on me thank running tests, even though eh also said my chest wall was all inflamed..

Ive been feeling really down recently and this is adding to it..

The mind can cause a lot of things; I knew someone who collapsed and became unable to move or talk at all, entirely due to stress. It could well cause chest pains, so don't dismiss that idea out of hand - it might be that you are right and it's physical, or it might be that your doctor is right, and it's emotional. But it doesn't mean that the problem is less serious, just that it needs tackling in a different way. It's clearly causing you a lot of distress, and it needs sorting. All you can do is keep going to the doctor and asking for some solution.

Chest pains are very common in aniexty and stress disorders
If you don't have a good relationship with your doctor change to another one and if they say the same as your first doctor i think you have to beleive tham and take the right steps to get better
