Itchy scalp

Postby whoopsie » Fri Apr 30, 2010 11:29 pm

Oh my god, i have THE worst itchy scalp ever. I've been itching it so much it's sore but it won't stop. I've checked for nits, definately none there. My scalp is really dry so i've been using anti dandruff shampoo but it doesn't seem to help.
It's driving me mad. Does anyone have any rapid remedies before i scratch my head off? PLEASE HELP!

You may have an infection of some kind on your scalp so I would go to the doctors
If there is nothing major worng use the simplist shamppos you can with no added fragrances. I know simple do shower gel but not sure about shampoo. Alternatively baby shampoo will obviously be very mild

I tried E45 shampoo and it's halved the amount it was itching and I've only used it once. Hopefully that'll sort it.

As someone who has eczema I have had a dry scalp at times too!
What I recommend is, maybe on a weekend when you arent going out, apply some olive oil to some cotton wool and rub it on to your scalp. Not alot, just a little bit. Then in the evening wash your hair. See if this helps.

Also it is worth going to the doctors.

I agree. Coconut oil is also very good (although more expensive). You can apply it in the evening, sleep in it and wash it out the next day.
