moving area/job

Postby brfc » Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:10 pm

im currently working in bristol and wanting to move with my partner to wales. i didnt want to move unless i had a job to go to but my work say i cant transfer to a job until i move there. theres no garunteed job over there when i do get to move so i currently feel like im going round in circles. the house prices are stupid in bristol and far cheaper in wales but how did u make the first move?

Why not compromise? Have you a friend or relative who will let you board in Bristol monday to friday until a transfer comes up. Else you could travel each day to Bristol?

I moved to Brighton and stayed monday to friday in London for work, paying a third of the diffrence in travel costs to pay for food and bills. I later switched and returned to london and worked in Brighton - again crashing with a work mate.

Why not look at Housing Benefit? Even when working you can claim. I was paying £80 per week rent and earning £160 per week years ago. I got something like £9 per week housing benefit, asked for a discretionary housing payment and got £45 extra per week for six months whilst i caught up with bills. Theres ways round everything if you work out what you most want and sacrifice on other things to get it.
whatever your problem someone else has been there and bears the scars.

Sounds like your gf's parents really like you. :P They know that this may be the only way for you to have the security of a nice home for you, your gf and your baby (their grandchild) in the short term.

Hope everything goes well for you. I think you deserve it. :P

That's good, hun; otherwise we'd all have to come round to your house with cake and ice cream - and you wouldn't want THAT??? :o :o :D
