At least you are getting it though.

I used to work in a supermarket when I was a student - students got paid less and didn't get bonus' unless we had beent here 3 years April-April...All the none students used to complain about getting taxted on their bonus - that was until I pointed out that at LEAST they got one where as I didn't!

Thing is tho, if I hadn't agreed to it going through my salary, then they would have to give me the full amount. It wasn't like it was my normal job. I wish I'd made a blooming invoice now. Grr.

You could tell them that was the nett fee so they need to pay you so netted down you get £200 in your pay

I wouldn't even know how to ask him to do that. I think he's being difficult after the other issue I had. I hate this stupid company.

if he confirmed to you how he would pay by e mail respond to it by saying

"I assume you will gross up the figure so i will be receiveing the £200 nett we agreed"

Great idea of Bel Bel's.

Even if they had paid you separately from your salary, the money would still be taxable - it's earnings, not a gift. In fact that would be a lot more hassle, because you would have to declare it yourself to HMRC. Loads easier to just have it as part of your salary.

Of course you could lie and not declare it, but that's a bit dodgy where there are records showing that you received it.
