Updating the Boards

Postby Jo » Wed Sep 17, 2003 5:18 pm

Don't know if anyone will read this - but here goes...

For the past couple of days I've been trying to find a quiet moment to update the forums to the latest version of phpBB, but every time I log on there is somebody here! So I am just going to have to carry on regardless.

This means that the boards will be 'down' for around half an hour this evening - that's 17th September 2003 - I can't say what time, I'm going to wait till its fairly quiet (i.e. less than three people logged in) and I'm going to do a back up first which takes a while in itself.

Apologies for any inconvenience!

Ooh the excitement!

Oh yes glad you're backing stuff up. I finally sorted out my Private Messages yesterday, so if we reverted to an earlier backup I'd have to do that again.

Good luck updating and will check it out later!

Mmmm, its done but the bit at the bottom showing who's online seems to be broken. Don't know why because it worked fine on my machine. I'll try to sort that out tonight. At least the database is intact and that's the main thing.

Sorry it doesn't look any different Enigma! I think they were mainly security updates.

As long as the database has survived that's the best thing.

The only two things I noticed are the Who Is Online panel as you mentioned, and before the background image to forum categories was missing from the <td>s on the right but looks like you've sorted that one out.

/me keeps his eyes peeled

Nice one Jo! I don't actually notice anything different but well you know what I'm like on computers (Complete novice) so there probably is some changes.

The Relationships section has been moved up the forums list as it is the most popular category of problems.

The update has resolved the problem with the Memberlist as the sort order function didn't use to work properly.

That's true, it didn't - I'd forgotten about that. It worked sometimes but other times it just didn't do anything.
