lonely brother

Postby innocent » Thu Mar 29, 2007 1:31 pm

hi there i was just wondering if it was normal for guys round the age of 18 to be so distant from everyone. My brother basically dosent talk to us or have any mates. I see him wonder around alone and it makes me feel so sad because he never used to be like this.. He's just overly shy.. he did have mates but pushed them away i think he just basically couldn't be bothered..i worry loads about him, mum does too. He is attractive and very popular with girls but isn't interested in them either.. will he ever grow out of it? hes moving far away in september for uni, i hope this helps him socially, i just hope he isnt depressed or anything.

i was very shy, with few friends when i was around that age, and when i moved out of home to university i reinvented myself.

the thing that did it for me was when i got a bar job in a busy pub. it helped me make lots of friends and really boosted my confidence. maybe you could reccommend this to him?
in the meantime, maybe invite him out with you and your friends, not a big enough group to scare him, just a couple of people for a quiet drink. once you are on your own its easy to stay that way, so the interaction may help.

many people do get over shyness, dont worry about him too much.

hope that helps.
