What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Postby Bel Bel » Tue May 18, 2010 4:21 pm

I hope there isn't already a thread like this, i looked and didn't find one

Anyway I wanted to be a theatre actress. Nothing like the buzz of a real audience in front of you
I did plays at school and loved it. I joined a drama group then found out I was pregnant and gave it up. Never had time to get back into it but I do consider it every now and then

I always wanted to be a singer, which is pretty hilarious as I can not sing in tune to save my life :P

I never knew what I wanted to do - I changed my mind every 5 mins, which is kinda reflected in my adult life, as I have chopped and changed a fair amount!!

I have just nearly spat Coffee all over the computer laughing. Lol. Not at anyone, at myself.

When I was younger I wanted to be a Firefighter. Now..... I sell sexy firefighter uniforms to women for thier blokes at Ann Summers parties! Haha

Although a part of me still wants my own pub, but thats turning out to be a bit difficult at the moment. So i think i'll stick with Ann Summers. Its more fun!

Anyone want a party?
You know you're a mum when the thought of food shopping alone becomes exciting.

When you and your significant other are having an argument, just take all of your clothes off during the spat and stand there. Something is bound to happen!! =]

Lemonjuice is having a party at my place next week. I provide the ice cream and the fish tank, she provides the uniforms.

I originally wanted to be a librarian - and I ended up running a nursing home. #-o

Thing is, everybody has a story about what happened between their initial intention, and where they ended up - that's the interesting bit, or the bit which doesn't make any sense... :D

I don't really remember what I wanted to be. I think there were lots of options, like vet, or teacher, or author.

I ended up in IT, which is pretty different from my degree, but its working for me at the moment. I do want to start learning to write though.

Cross-posted with you there, Skarlet: I always wanted to be a writer. After a bit of a career in something else, I eventually achieved this, but it isn't really as fun as it seems. You are stuck in front of a screen on your own all day, the pay (even for books) isn't that good (unless you are someone like Jeffrey Archer of course) and you have to wait ages to get paid, and end up nagging editors until you do. Sometimes magazines go under before they've paid you as well.

After a few years I gave it up, and now only write bits and pieces occasionally, for magazines that I know can be relied upon.

Yeh it does sound quite difficult. I probably wouldn't give up my full time career, and just write on the side. I used to enjoy writing poetry, and my teacher always seemed to like it. I would like to get back into it again, just to be a bit creative.
I fancy writing a blog, but not really sure what i would write about. Guess its just writing about what interests me.

Thats really cool Captain!
