Nice ruth! Are those aviators? I need a pair myself for when im flying!

Thanks Bel bel.. heres some more. No formation flying pics from me as I was flying the plane the whole time while my friend took the photos. Formation flying requires alot of consentration and precision.

Heres the plane I had to fly:

Heres the chipmunk we flew in formation with (I got to sit in it when the pilot taxied it from the fuel bay to the hangar) This aircraft is 60yrs old this year:

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... nflynn.jpg

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... nflynn.jpg

Heres the pitts special we also formation flew with:

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/ ... nflynn.jpg

Heres the friend we made enroute back home, the big airship hangars behind at cardington were built around 1915 and are listed buildings:

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... nflynn.jpg

http://th04.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2 ... nflynn.jpg

and finally here we are on final after a good days flying (this was our second approach, my friend made me do an ILS on the first approach and then we flew another circuit to take pics)

For those wanting to see the air to air formation flying photos, heres my friends flickr page:

Brilliant pics

I loved the petrol pump in the background

You look like you got seriously close to the ballon (or was the zoom button on full)

haha Yeah, it was a good shot to have the petrol pump there too I thought.. haha. :)
I used zoom but with the wing and balloon shot I didnt use much zoom at all. We kept to minimum safety distance

ILS = instrumental landing system. As I lined us up with the runway my mate opened his map, stuffed it up the window infront of me so I couldnt see out and said 'try using instruments only' so I did and flew it well :)

haha Its not scary! :D I enjoyed having a go at an ILS though because my instrument work in general is good but I had never had a chance until monday to try flying down the line on instruments alone. :)

 I think you mean hover fly, Bel.

Can't get the idea of a hoover fly out of my head now. . . I think it would look a Dyson, definitely not like a traditional hoover. . . :-k

Thanks very much Spacegirl, I got lucky with that hoverfly. I was photographing the lily and the hoverfly randomly turned up and didnt seem overly bothered about me.

belbel, haha yeah, those hooverflys love to suck everything up dont they?
The wake boarding shot was hard to get. I think I tried about 8 times before I finally caught that guy like that.

I was hoping to get some pics of the aurora borealis over the past few nights as they were supposed to be able to be seen from all over the UK but have been unsuccessful so far.

I deleted it as I didn't mean to post the actual photo - I've forgotten how to post the link from photobucket #-o

That was using marco mode - I didn't get any closer as I wanted the background in the shot too.

I will post some properly when I figure it out!!

Ahh i deleted my comment as your pic went missing :P

Ah jolly good, Ragdoll. It was a good composition none the less :) The way to post links from photobucket is to select the 'direct link' code.

Sorry I havent been around much lately. A few things seem to be taking up my time! Including this little girl pictured sitting on my mums lap...

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/ ... 331xao.jpg

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... 331xit.jpg

We originally opted to call her Jet, but she never responded. We discussed names and I mentioned Poppy as everyone is wearing poppies during November for Poppy day. Mum called out 'Poppy' and she came running. So her name is Poppy. Shes 9 weeks old and she joined our family on wednesday :)
