Olympic Games

Postby mattmxl » Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:50 am

Anybody else feeling dangerously underwhelmed regarding the arrival of the Olympic Games today? Granted its a good excuse for a party and to be patriotic without being called a racist, but besides that does anybody really care?

I agree I really am not bothered but I think I may watch the opening ceremony just to see if it's any good. That may change my mind if it's really good.

Oh my God, I'm so happy someone else said this.

I'm totally not interested. It's just a giant sportsday.

I couldn't be less interested.

My only concern is possible disruption to transport when travelling through London.

Lol, of all the flags in all the world, we had to go and mix up those two! Good old Britain lol. Am glad its not just me then, I'll have to go and find a hole to hide in for a fortnight as I imagine there won't be much escaping it. Have to hope some of it gets a little bit exciting at some point.

Haha...I'm a grump, I freely admit it.

I'm all in favour of anything that cheers up the nation but what I don't like is the FUSS, oh the never ending FUSS!

And the fact that it's top news every day, when other things are going on in the world that are more important.

And the fact that they are cited as "heroes". They're not heroes, talented yes, but heroes? Come on...

I think we should create a safe house for people who aren't into it. :D'

Good idea! But why not go the whole way? Light a torch outside it that burns for the duration that the place is in action lol.

Yeah but not a torch like the Olympic one. One from a hardware store.
Just for the irony.

I'm not sure you'll find one of those that burns for a fortnight. Not without incurring some expensive battery costs!

OK....we'll have a rota that will decide who will pop down the corner shop to get more batteries and replace them.
And when they go down the shop, they will have to wear ear-muffs and blinkers to avoid any mention of the games.
