Fifty Shades of Grey

Postby rufio89 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 2:07 pm

I cant believe there's not been a post about this, but who's read/reading 50 Shades of Grey and what are your thoughts?

It's totally not the sort of book I'd normally read and I never would have considered it, but I needed to see what all the fuss was about so I've just started reading it (on my kindle so noone can see!!!) on my lunchbreak. It's actually very absorbing (not got to any naughty bits yet!)

Hated it, thought it was poorly written and as bad as a Mills and Boon- but then I didn't get much past the beginning.

Plus unrealistic view of what would happen in a proper new BDSM relationship from most people in the BDSM worlds viewpoints from what I have heard.

Rubbish and sloooow
Stopped reading it just after half way through
Hardly racy either
Try Jackie Collins or Jilly Cooper if you have never read them before

I read it at my aunt's house on her Kindle. She said I had to read it because it was hilarious.

I think it's kack personally, unrealistic, badly written. Have you got to the bit where she feels like a "spin-cycle" yet? Maybe I've been doing it wrong in the bedroom...or doing my washing wrong. One of the two.

But whatever floats your boat. :D

Well I finished it. I'll admit that I did get sucked into it and I did quite enjoy reading it, but I dont really know what all the fuss was about! I was expecting some shocking BDSM story that would open my mind, but it's all really quite tame! It's also wildy unrealistic and I was expecting a sex story essentially, but actually it's a massively unrealistic love story!

It's totally unrealistic. And the sex scenes aren't even that good.

Has anyone read the "Earth's Children" series by Jean M Auel? Very good sex scenes in that if that's what you're after....

HLC, I've read all the "Sex in a Cave" series by Jean Auel.

I enjoyed them first and foremost for their historical content, of course. [-X

But of course, Pee. There was a lot of learnin' under all that prehistoric bodice ripping.
