Privacy and deleting your posts

Postby Jo » Tue Apr 20, 2004 9:46 am

Problem Pages is NOT a private forum - you have to be a member to post a message but ANYONE can read the problems, including search engines; remember this before you post!

When you post a message to a website you are putting something on the Internet which could be around for a very long time. Even if it gets deleted from this site it can still exist in the cache of a search engine, in the backups we make of the site, on somebody's computer if they copied your message - so remember, if in doubt, don't post something you might change your mind about later - if you do you have only yourself to blame!

Now and again we get people asking if we will delete all their posts. Just to clarify the situation, this is not something we would do under normal circumstances - there are various reasons for this...

1. We don't have time!
2. It spoils the flow of a thread so should be avoided at all costs.
3. You should have thought more carefully before you posted it!

Remember - YOU are responsible for what YOU post on the web, whatever and wherever it might be.

Recently, we’ve had a number of members requesting that some of their existing threads be removed.

Please read over Jo’s guidelines above and be reminded that this is not something we will generally do. Providing you don’t share your account information with anyone else or post obvious information about yourself, your anonymity is protected here. If you post bearing this in mind you shouldn’t feel the need to request that a thread is deleted.

Think before you post!

Cheers
