Chat room help

Postby Jo » Thu Dec 16, 2004 1:08 pm

Please note that although there will sometimes be a forum moderator in the chat room, the chat room is a free and unmoderated resource. We accept no responsibility for postings or comments made in the chat room! You are advised not to give out personal information such as address, telephone numbers or even your full name.

To get into the chat room you must be a registered member of this forum and you must be logged in.

When you are logged in the 'FlashChat' link will appear in the main menu at the top of the page. Click on the link to be automatically logged into the chat room with your phpBB user identity.

The chat room uses Flash which comes as a standard plug-in with most browsers. If you don't have it you can download free from here: ... kwaveFlash

What if someone is being abusive in the chat room?
If a moderator is present the abusive person will probably be kicked out of the room. If no moderator is present you can choose to ignore the person by clicking on their name. If you want to report them to a moderator at a later date via the main ProblemPages forums please make sure you save the conversation - this can be done by clicking on the 'Save' button in the chat room. It is very important to do this if it is likely to be more than an hour before you can contact a moderator. ALL chat conversations are available to moderators for one hour.

Please remember, however, that you use the chat room at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety, particularly with regard to your personal information. We accept no responsibility for postings or comments made. If a user is consistently abusive we will do all we can to help (e.g. by providing their IP address or banning them from the chat room) but we are unable to take any further action. You are advised to record all abusive messages including dates, times etc. in case the situation becomes serious and you decide to contact the appropriate authorities.
